US Masters Contenders 2011 - Camilo Villegas

Camilo Villegas is a 29 year old from Colombia who turned professional in 2004. He has a total of seven porfessional tour wins and is ranked at number 10 in the world rankings.

Villegas has shot to world golfing prominence in the last couple of seasons, scoring his first two PGA tour wins in 2008. He firstly won the BMW Championship and then followed that up by winning the prestigious Tour Championship three weeks later. Those two wins that were accompanied by four other top ten finishes pushed him into the top ten of the World rankings and he has been there ever since, where he is currently ranked 8th.

This season Camilo has continued where he left off in 2008 and already in just seven tournaments played he has been in the top ten three times, his best finish being his tie for 5th in the coveted WGC CA Championship.

As far as the US Masters is concerned he has played at Augusta for the last two seasons but has yet to make the cut here. He did however finish in a tie for 9th in the 2008 US Open and was tied 4th in the 2008 PGA Championship.

Betting Assessment

Although yet to make the cut at Augusta after two attempts, Villegas is too good a player to be ignored in the US Masters Betting. His best price is currently 45-1 which represent outstanding value for a man who is said to be knocking on the door of his first Major. He is in fine form at the moment and without doubt one of the most improved players in the field.
